Berchtesgarden
Only 30km away from us, spa town Berchtesgaden provides spectacular alpine panoramic views. There is a broad range of touristic opportunities such as mountain hiking in the Alpine National Park, boat trips across the Königsee, a ride with the Jenner cable cars, a visit to the Obersalzberg documentation centre, a ride across the Rossfeldhöhen road, a walk into the romantic and nearly untouched gorge of Wimbachklamm or the SaltyTimeTravel in the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine.
The Salt Mine’s new programme in Berchtesgaden and its impressive new visitor’s centre provide multi-media information. Learn more about salt and salt mining. Adults and kids can either go on an expedition with a small mining train, going deeply into the mountain or take the tried-and-tested miner’s slide – both have adventures been a pleasure for decades.
A great combination to this visit is a trip to the Old Salt Works Reichenhall, where you can learn more about salt production in Berchtesgaden and the famous Bad Reichenhall brand.
Reit im Winkl
Winter holidays in the Bavarian mountains – make your dreams come true in Reit im Winkl!
Find excellently prepared slopes in the Winklmoosalm/Steinplatte area. There are fantastic cross-country ski-trails for beginners and advanced. Experience the fascinating mountain world and its frozen mountain lakes on a horse-drawn sleigh ride. All this can be found only 35km away from Hammerwirt’s.
Reit im Winkl is worth a visit in every season. Hike the Winkelmoosalm (made famous by “Gold-Rosi” Mittermaier) or indulge yourself right in the heart of the Reit im Winkl at “Eva Planer – Schönheit & Entspannung”. Relax at “Beim Neuihausa” and let Eva Planer take care of your beauty.
Chiemsee
One of Germany’s largest lakes is only 20km away from our hotel. It is also known as the “Bavarian Sea”. On its islands, you will find the “Fairy Tale Castle” Herrenchiemsee (on Herreninsel) and a 1200 year-old convent (on Fraueninsel), being surrounded by a craftsmen- and fisher village. Taking a Chiemsee boat trip will take you from the port of your choice (e. g. Prien, Seebruck or Gstad) to your destination. Enjoy the fantastic views on Chiemsee and the alpine Chiemgau panorama.
During summer, the Chiemsee is a great place for sailing and surfing. You can also take a bath in one of the numerous lidos or rent an electric or pedal boat to explore tranquil bays.
Why not attend one of the air concerts or operas at the castle courtyard of Herrenchiemsee during summer?
Ruhpolding
The nearby village of Ruhpolding became famous for biathlon sports and offers diverse touristic activities. We recommend a ride by Rauschbergbahn (1680m), a train ride with an educational trail about the Alps. Families with kids appreciate a visit of the leisure- and adventure park Ruhpolding-Brand.
The Vita Alplina adventure pool in Ruhpolding feature various special thermal baths such as the Urmeertherme, aroma- and steam bath, Finnish sauna, Brechelbad, Steinbad, sauna garden and many other highlights for you to relax and unwind.
Families with kids also find great attractions such as various slides, wave pools, children’s pool and so on. Certainly a hot favourite in our region at any season!
Salzburg
Go to the Mozart- and festival city of Salzburg in around 30 Minutes by car. Enjoy a stroll and some shopping in the Old Town with its Getreidegasse and all its beautiful squares and relax afterwards in one of the cosy cafés on the Salzach banks. What about a visit to Mozart’s birthplace? If you fancy a more sporting approach, you may take the route up to the fortress and its stunning view down on Old Town. You can also take the rack railway to visit the castle complex. Salzburg is part of the World Heritage.
Inzell
The little village of Inzell is around 5km away from us and a nice destination for small biking tours through the pre-alpine landscape. It is home of Anni Friesinger, one of Germany’s best speed skaters. In wintertime, there are some top-class speed skating events and the spectacular ice speedway tour comes here every year.
Hochfelln
The Hochfellnseilbahn cable way starts in the near-by mountains, going up to the summit in 1674m altitude. Enjoy the stunning views down on the beautiful pre-alpine landscape with a visibility of around 200km and -in the opposite direction- up to the impressive summits of the Austrian Alps. Snow is guaranteed in the skiing and snowboarding area of Hochfelln and thus it attracts a lot of guests during winter.
Siegsdorf Museum of Natural History
In the new Museum of Natural History, you can refresh your knowledge about the earth’s formation and learn more about our region’s the special features. More attractions are pre-historic skeletons of feline predators and the famous Siegsdorf Mammoth, found during excavations in the area.
