Winter sport at Hammerwirt’s
Our local club, SC Hammer, has a long and proud history, as it is home to many world-famous outstanding top athletes such as Peter Angerer (Biathlon), Martina Zellner (Biathlon), Thomas Dufter (Nordic Combiner) oder Sepp Ferstl (Alpine Skiing) and the current World Cup Participant Josef “Peppi” Ferst.
Hammer is situated in a ski region that is famous for cross-country skiing. In snowy winters, you can enter the cross-country trail directly in our village. There is a vast route network criss-crossing our beautiful scenery.
You will find small-scale ski lifts on the surrounding mountains, suitable for beginners or simply to smoothly get back into your shape.
You can also take lessons for skiing or snowboarding.
Advanced skiers should visit Reit im Winkel or Winklmoos/Steinplatte, where snow is guaranteed and the ski slopes offer of all levels of difficulty. Especially snowboarders appreciate the fun parks and the hillside options for descents in deep powder snow.
If you prefer a more relaxed approach, why not go on a horse-sleigh ride or do some Bavarian curling on the frozen bathing lake? You can also skate the lake, if you feel like it. Yet an even bigger ice rink is the world-famous Inzell ice stadium. This stadium is not only Germany’s intensive training centre for skating, but also hosts annual Ice-Speedway Championships. And if you feel like tobogganing, just walk behind the house.
